Superman.
I wanted to share this space with a partner. I am
going to share a letter she sent me.
Dear Friend,
You may have heard that Superman will be back in
theaters in the new movie Superman Returns…
But did you know that the Superman storytellers purposely
based Superman on Jesus? It's true!
“Superman is the Jesus Christ of superheroes,”
and Superman Returns is “a story about what
happens when Messiah comes back…,” Director
of Superman Returns, 2006. (And this is from theHollywood
guys!)
In his new book, The Gospel According to the World's
Greatest Superhero, Christian author Stephen Skelton
equips the church to claim the Superman story as a
re-telling of the Gospel story--by the admission of
the Superman storytellers themselves.
