Frankie Says...
1 Kings 19:11-13; 11 The LORD said, "Go
out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the
LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by."
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains
apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but
the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there
was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.
12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD
was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle
whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak
over his face and went out and stood at the mouth
of the cave.
Then a voice said to him, "What are you doing
here, Elijah?" -NIV
There was a song in the mid 80’s called “Relax”
the song struck a nerve back then and many people
–myself included- had the Frankie says…
t-shirts. I have seen them now in retro stores which
makes me feel really old.
I have been working so hard on this site the last
few weeks I have almost lost track of what I was doing
this for. The graphics have been getting better and
the articles more smooth and polished. I have improved
my rankings in a lot of search engines and I actually
have people linking to me. All that is the business
side of running a web site but I was beginning to
lose track of what I was running the site for. My
logo says “As for me and my Site we shall serve
the LORD.” A slight re-write of what Joshua
told the Isrealites and it means something to me.
I am trying to find a way to reach out to people not
just with simple platitudes but to really reach them.
I feel that by talking to them like a real person,
a person with problems and pain, yet also with triumphs
and victories, that I can help them. I had been so
focused on the skeleton of my site; little codes and
other knick-knacks that I had already in less than
a month started to forget the flesh that needed to
be around that skeleton. True, unless the site is
succeeding the message doesn’t get out - that
is an easy excuse isn’t it - and also true we
should always strive for excellence in all we do especially
in what we do for God - The Enemy of our Souls would
love us to keep striving for excellence at the expense
of never actually doing anything -. We need to keep
a balance between striving and doing. Until we stop
trying so hard we will never relax enough to let the
Spirit of God talk to us. I find it hard to work and
listen at the same time.
My wife can tell you when I am doing something if
she wants to talk to me she really needs to start
off by getting my attention and then say it. If she
says it while I am busy she will not get through my
mind just will not hear it. The same goes with the
still quiet word of God, if we are too busy, we will
never hear him. So just do as Frankie says . . .
