One day I was watching our dog playing in the yard. And suddenly the Lord revealed something to me. I can teach our dog to sit, to lie down, and even do "belly up" but can I teach him to come when I call???

No way! He just doesnt come when I call. He only comes when he thinks comming is more exciting than what he is doing now, otherwise he just won't come. I have to get the squeaky toy, or blow the whistle, or knock or do something special to get him to come.

Sometimes I don't have time for that, and I just go out and pick him up and carry him inside. Isn't that the same way with us and God? Maybe we have learned a few "Spiritual Tricks", like Going to church, praying or maybe even tithing. But do we come when God calls? Are we more interested in what is in the "backyard" than listening to God's voice? Does God have to get out the spiritual squeaky toy before we pay attention, or worse yet, does He have to come out and get us, and carry us bodily into His house? Hopefully my dog will someday learn to come when called. I hope we will all soon to learn to come to God's call too.
